Nokia is a tech-giant company, which is often seen to take over the market with its release of uniquely designed phones which are not only unbreakable, but have a powerful functionality too.
The Lumia series, however, did not prove to be a success at first because of some software bugs that appeared in the phone soon after its release, which led its sale to face a major decline. The Lumia 900’s bug disappointed a lot of fans and caused them to look for alternatives to find better functionality, but Nokia never gave up; it continued to offer updates to fix the errors especially by  800.
Nokia seemed dead in recent years and their last successful phone was the n900 three years back. Then they came out with N9 which didn’t work that well either. Now, the Lumia looked like it is going to steal the market for smartphones with its sleek design paired with an extraordinary processor and Operating system, and it did!
Having received massive popularity soon after its release, Nokia Lumia 800 is Nokia’s latest smartphone of the Lumia series, offering a better features and functionality from the previous version. It is one brilliant smartphone ideal for businessmen as well as for the youth as it can provide both entertainment and business apps. Whether you need to send quick emails or you want to indulge in social networking, the Nokia Lumia is ideal for all these things as it has a variety of applications incorporated into it.
The Design
The sleek structure of the phone makes it look somewhat like Nokia N9. It has a rectangular shape and thin body paired with an AMOLED screen with a beautiful display, which makes it look like an admirable piano-black slate-like device.
Screen and Display
Similar to other new smartphones, the Lumia 800 offers an AMOLED touch screen and offers 16 million colours. Also, the screen is made from Gorilla glass which is the finest material for cell phone screens. The screen resolution is 480×800 pixels and the size of the screen is a whopping 3.7 inches. Nokia was never seen making big screens but with Lumia success, Nokia might switch to more touch screen phones. There is also an accelerometer which was seen in the N9 as well. The capacitive touchscreen makes the phone more usable and better looking. It also supports multi-touch.
Hardware and Operating system
The Nokia Lumia comes with the latest Windows operating system which is the Windows 7.5 Mango. This particular firmware offers a lot of services and there are a lot of applications available for the Windows Mobile OS. To wrap up the usability of the phone, Nokia used an incredible Scorpion 1.4 Gigahertz processor with Qualcomm chipset which is one of the best currently. This makes the phone a lot faster and multi-tasking is also made easier using the 512 MB of RAM. However, a lot of people are disappointed with the RAM as the newer smartphones offer 1GB of RAM for better and smoother multi-tasking. Even with 512 RAM, Nokia claims that this phone offers the best experience with the use of the blazing fast processor matched with the super chipset.
Camera
Another interesting thing about the Lumia 800 is that it comes with a powerful 8Megapixel camera and to add to the advantage of it, comes the Carl Zeiss lens. This particular technology makes the Nokia cameras a bit more clear than other normal cameras. Other features include Dual LED, geo tagging, face detection and auto-focus. A major drawback of the Lumia is that there is no secondary camera for video calling or for Skype. Even though 3G is enabled, there is not front camera and a lot of people are disappointed as a VGA camera would have been good as well. The Lumia shoots 720p HD videos and can play 730p videos as well. However, again this might be a problem as the newer phones support 1080p HD recording. The Lumia can play HD videos at 30 frames per second.
The cons
Just as everything has a negative side, this phone does too. The battery issues in this phone has made it one of the last choices for people who prefer battery life; even after the update, the problem persists.
The phone has some display problems too as graphics do appear a bit dodgy when one uses the internet, which get annoying sometimes. Another annoying thing is this phone’s supportability of just microSIM which is a big drawback as a lot of users prefer a old SIM size.
The video recording feature of this phone is below average and Flash videos are not supported. Also, the Zune player takes a noticeably long time to copy video files across.
Over all, the phone is awesome and should be made a choice if one is a strict Nokia fan, because Lumia 800 lacks nothing that Nokia gives in the best of its phones!
